The Quickest Way
The speediest version of how to get a presenter onto your broadcast is to have no security and send out a generic link that will be the same for all guests. The advantage to this is how quickly you can get someone into the room; for example in last-minute events, or if an event is already running and you have an emergency presenter change.
If you wish to do this, in Security Settings for your room make sure you have unticked the 'Require room password for entry to all guests' option.
WARNING: This means that just one link/URL will be enough for someone to enter into your room. No passwords or security features will occur.
To invite a participant to your room, go to the Rooms tab of your workspace. On your list of available rooms you will find icons to link to/copy a URL for your guest, your producer, and for the output page.
Click on the copy icon in the Guest Page column. You can now paste this in your communication and send this link to a guest.
That link will bring them to the following screen on their browser, where they can fill in their Display Name and check they have a working camera and audio device connected:
- Nb: For best results we recommend using an up-to-date Google Chrome browser for all Internet Mixer usage. Other browsers will often work, but the stability of some features may be compromised.
With all security features turned off, a display name is still needed to enter the room. There are no specific requirements for what can be entered, just that it is not left blank.
- If the guest has a working camera/video feed, a live video will appear in the Preview window.
- If the guest has a working microphone/audio feed, the Audio Source Volume will show a signal when audio is detected. This will appear as a green bar that reacts to sound.
Internet Mixer will usually detect the default camera and microphone on a guest's computer.
If it has not, or they have multiple devices on their system, use the drop-down menus under Video Source and Audio Source to find the correct devices.
A guest can choose to use the Video Filter options. These are covered in more detail in the Being a Guest section of this guide.
Occasionally at this stage a browser will need to be granted access to a camera or microphone. This can be in form of a pop-up that appears on screen, or in some cases the user will need to go into their browser permissions and allow it. More details about this can be found in our troubleshooting guide.
When the guest is ready, they should click the Connect to Session button.
- For the speedy version to work the most speedy, there must be no Custom Fields required. If Custom Fields have been set, at this point the guest will be required to fill out the data form before entering the room.
The guest will then enter your Internet Mixer room and be able to take part in your broadcast.
